Net zero carbon. BREEAM outstanding. Best-in-class results. Just some of the accolades awarded to voco Zeal Exeter. IHG Hotels & Resorts flagship project, located just off the M5 in Exeter’s Science Park offering guests and travellers sustainable luxury.
A 100% electric, net zero carbon hotel, voco Zeal Exeter is designed for sustainability without compromise. Generating surplus energy through advanced solar panels, it meets BREEAM Outstanding standards, reflecting its exceptional energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact. By integrating triple glazing, airtight construction, and fresh air ventilation, the hotel consumes just a third of the energy of a typical hotel. With 12 EV charging points, it further supports eco-conscious travel, ensuring sustainability is built into every aspect of the guest experience.
Collaborating closely with Westwork Interiors – Momentum specified and supplied all the loose furniture for the development. Each zone was carefully curated to align with the design and hotel ethos.
The reception, restaurant, and bar furniture were sourced predominantly from Andreu World and Enea, two European manufacturers renowned for their sustainable practices, social responsibility, and expert craftsmanship using natural materials. The products were finished with naturally-inspired aesthetics and eco-friendly, low-carbon materials selected by Westworks to complement the scheme’s environmental credentials.
For the bedrooms, British manufacturers were commissioned to fit and install key pieces to complement the loose furniture. As with the furniture, the specification and mission were to ensure the most appropriate materials and practices were observed as possible.
The combination of the latest building methods, great design and beautiful furnishings ensured the final development looked as good as it was comfortable – luxury, defined by sustainability and seating.

Testimonial
“Working with Momentum on voco Zeal Exeter was invaluable. As the UK’s first lifecycle net zero carbon hotel, there were plenty of operational and environmental challenges to navigate, including the specification, sourcing, and delivery of furniture.
Momentum approached it all with an impressive collaborative, and engaging attitude. They were resourceful and able to flex when needed; both from a specification and operational perspective, proposing furniture solutions that supported our sustainability and design credentials, whilst adapting to an evolving programme of works. Their coordination with the wider project team made a complex journey feel streamlined and efficient. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.”
